San Luis Obispo County: Planting Native Species for Earth Day at Montaña de Oro State Park

Under clear and warm skies on April 16, 52 PG&E employees, family members and friends, including John Conway, Jim Becker and Ken Peters, celebrated Earth Day 2011 at Montaña de Oro State Park along the rugged Pacific coastline. The PG&E volunteers were joined by another 50 people from the community.

Conway is a senior vice president and PG&E’s chief nuclear officer. Becker is site vice president at Diablo Canyon Power Plant. Peters is a vice president for engineering and projects.

Volunteers, performed trail and vegetation maintenance on the Coon Creek and Rattlesnake Flats trails, did vegetation removal and planted native plants at Camp Keep and on the Horse Camp trail.

Members of the general public included Rick London, chief executive officer of San Luis Obispo United Way.
