PG&E has introduced a first-time corporate challenge as part of San Francisco’s Tech Search Party event – the area’s premiere smart phone scavenger hunt – taking place on Saturday (Feb. 4).
Tech Search Party, now in its third year, involves participants roaming San Francisco’s Noe Valley with their smart phones and smart technology – think Droids, iPhones, iPads and Galaxys – along with their friends. Together, they attempt to uncover clues that will take them to the next stop with winners ultimately earning prizes.
This year marks the first PG&E Corporate Challenge. PG&E has formed its own team and has challenged other organizations to participate as a group. Teams accepting the challenge will pay a higher registration fee ($200 for a team of four compared to the regular $50 for a four-member team) but all proceeds go directly to local public schools and teams qualify for cash prizes courtesy of PG&E.
“PG&E is excited to kick off the PG&E Corporate Challenge at this year’s Tech Search Party. It’s a great event for a great cause, and we are looking forward to participating, and hopefully encouraging other organizations to take part,” said Ontario Smith, a PG&E senior government relations representative in San Francisco.

All of the money raised from Tech Search Party, including PG&E’s Corporate Challenge, goes toward improving technology at Alvarado Elementary, James Lick Middle and Marshall Elementary schools.
On-site registration/check in for Tech Search Party begins at 5:15 p.m. at James Lick Middle School.
