Outside Sacramento, dozens of mobile command vehicles from police and fire departments, agencies like CalFire and CalTrans and organizations like the American Red Cross gathered recently.
And PG&E brought three different emergency-response vehicles, including a 39-foot-long vehicle that’s full of high-tech communication gear and plenty of space for a crew of a 12 to work. PG&E was the only utility at the event.
The event, billed as a Mobile Command Center Rally, is a place where emergency-responders can talk shop and check out the latest gadgets.
In this video story, Currents videographer James Green goes inside some of these vehicles and talks to experts about why they are so important when responding to natural disasters and other emergencies.
