PG&E’s Vegetation-Management Program Gets Industry Recognition

PG&E’s vegetation management team is an award-winning group.

The team has earned the Tree Line USA Utility award every year since 1995.

And, in August, Steve Tankersley, who manages PG&E’s vegetation management program, was attending a conference in Portland when he learned he was the first non-arborist to win the Arborist of the Year Award from the International Society of Arboriculture. He won for applying business and project management techniques within the vegetation management team at PG&E.

“It was quite a shock,” he said. “The person next to me had to nudge me and say, ‘That’s you.’”

Of the nearly 1,600 vegetation management employees and contractors at PG&E, about a third of them are certified arborists.
