Kiraly Named Senior Vice President of Electric Distribution Operations

PG&E has named Greg Kiraly as its senior vice president of electric distribution operations. The announcement was made today (Sept. 26).

Kiraly, who has served as vice president of electric distribution operations, will lead a team of 4,200 employees that design, build, maintain and operate PG&E’s electric distribution system. The department was recently expanded to include Customer Service Delivery, a joint electric and gas team responsible for energy service requests. He will continue to report directly to Executive Vice President of Electric Operations Geisha Williams.

Greg Kiraly will lead an organization of 4,200 PG&E workers as the senior vice president of electric distribution operations.

Since joining PG&E in 2008, Kiraly has been a major force in the company’s efforts to improve electric distribution reliability. Thanks in part to Kiraly’s leadership and the tireless work of his team, the duration of electric outages experienced by customers has steadily decreased over the last four years. Service interruptions also are at an all-time low.

This year, Kiraly was instrumental in the launch of several significant employee safety programs to foster and develop a safety culture focused on providing employees with the tools, training and knowledge needed to remain safe on the job. Kiraly also has taken an active leadership role on safety issues for the company as a member of the Executive Safety Steering Committee.

“When it comes to safety, reliability and affordability, ‘good’ is never good enough, and Greg is constantly challenging his team to find ways to improve service for our customers,” said Williams. “Overseeing a team of 4,200 men and women requires extensive familiarity with our operations, a performance-driven leadership style, a passion for serving our customers and a commitment to continuous improvement: all qualities that define Greg Kiraly. There is no one better suited to lead this expanded team.”

Kiraly first joined PG&E as vice president of electric maintenance and construction in what was then the utility’s energy delivery organization. In 2010, Kiraly took on a special assignment to oversee the day-to-day operations of the SmartMeter Operations team.

Before joining PG&E in 2008, Kiraly served as vice president, distribution system operations, energy delivery at Commonwealth Edison in Chicago. Kiraly also spent 15 years with Public Service Electric and Gas Company in Newark, N.J., where he held a variety of positions in gas and electric distribution.

Kiraly holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a master’s of business administration in finance from Seton Hall University. He is also a recent graduate of Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program.
