PG&E will host open houses this week in Madera and in Walnut Creek to talk to residents about upcoming hydrostatic pressure testing.
Customers who live near pressure-test locations have received letters with information about the hydrostatic pressure tests. Experts from PG&E will be on hand to answer questions on the testing. Poster boards will provide additional information.
As part of its work to improve the safety of its gas system, PG&E has strength-tested or validated prior strength testing for 435 miles of transmission pipeline and plans to strength-test an additional 189 miles in 2013. This video explains how a pipeline pressure test works.
PG&E also had automated 67 valves and plans to automate an additional 67 valves in 2013.
Here are the dates and locations of the open houses:
- Monday, May 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Madera South High School (705 W. Pecan Ave.) in Madera
- Wednesday, May 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Heather Farms Community Center (301 N. San Carlos Drive) in Walnut Creek
