Carmel: Open House to Answer Questions about Pipeline Replacement

PG&E will host an open house today (Sept. 23) to talk to residents about an upcoming distribution pipeline replacement project in Carmel in Monterey County.

The company will be upgrading a portion of its natural gas distribution system serving Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe Street, Perry Newberry Way, Ocean Avenue, and 3rd, 5th, and 6th avenues, in Carmel. Work is expected to begin in early October and last until late November.

Most of the pipelines that will be replaced are located under the street, although a portion of the replacement work will take place on private property. PG&E will let customers know if their gas service will be interrupted.

At the end of the project, the utility will refinish roadways and work with property owners to restore landscaping. This work will have lane and sidewalk closures during construction.

Here is the date and location of the open house where experts from PG&E will attend to answer questions:

  • Monday, Sept. 23, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Cherry Center for the Arts Sculpture Garden (Guadalupe Street and 4th Avenue) in Carmel
