Enzo Galligani was at recess at his elementary school playground when his best friend stared at him with a helpless look. After realizing his friend was choking, the 9-year-old performed the Heimlich maneuver, dislodging a piece of granola bar. It was a lifesaving technique he learned from his father, who works at PG&E where employees are certified in CPR.

Upgrading power poles and electric lines on a 700-foot coastal mountaintop sounded like a tall challenge. PG&E’s solution? High-flying electric line workers. This week in San Mateo County, two helicopters ferried line workers, tools and poles along the pole line overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It’s a project that will improve electric capacity and reliability for 6,000 coastal customers.

As part of April’s National Safe Digging Month, PG&E conducted emergency responder training at its San Carlos Service Center for fire, police, and emergency services departments in San Mateo County today. Prior to the training, it was announced that a Peninsula 811 Task Force to increase the awareness of calling 811 before any digging project.
