On Tuesday (May 8), PG&E hosted an open house where customers and nearby businesses and residents could get information on the ongoing demolition of the Kern Power Plant and the cleanup of the site. PG&E also announced a new website as one of several options for residents to keep up with what’s happening at the site.

PG&E Installs Smart Technology to Minimize Outages in Kern County

In a dusty field on Panama Lane, workers hoisted a 200-pound Nova recloser to a utility pole. The Nova is part of new Smart Grid technology, called Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration (FLISR), that will both reduce outage duration and the number of customers affected by outages.

Students at Sierra Middle School welcomed a shiny new arrival to the campus on Thursday (Jan. 19) – a massive 28-by-92-foot shade structure topped off with 44 double solar panels. The solar array is part of an increased financial commitment from PG&E to the school – one of 125 schools in PG&E’s Solar Schools Program.
