World Champions: PG&E Crew Victorious at International Lineman’s Rodeo

In a momentous victory, a three-man PG&E crew from Grass Valley in Nevada County won the top prize this past weekend at the International Lineman’s Rodeo, a competition that pits the best line workers in the world against each other in pole climbing and other difficult feats. In all, PG&E won eight awards — far more than any of the more than 100 utilities.

As part of its celebration of Careers in Energy Week, PG&E is holding a contest inviting California high school and college students to share their views on the value and impact of choosing a career in the utility sector. Entrants must create a PowerPoint presentation, an essay, a video or a PDF poster that illustrates why students should pursue careers with energy or utility companies. Winners get cash awards.

PG&E Hosts Four African Women as Part of 2014 TechWomen Exchange Program

PG&E is hosting four women from Africa who are participating in the State Department’s TechWomen exchange program. The program embeds female engineers and others with companies immersed in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the so-called STEM fields. In all, 78 women from 13 different nations will work side-by-side this month with American counterparts at 40 leading companies.
