VIDEO: When Handling Energized Power Lines, Practice Makes Safer

PG&E recently completed annual training in Los Banos for a special group of linemen who perform upgrades, maintenance and repairs on energized transmission power lines that carry 60,000 to 500,000 volts of electricity. As this video shows, the procedure is safer and easier for linemen, and it also eliminates the need to de-energize a power line and interrupt electric service to potentially thousands of customers.

PG&E Leads Utility Industry’s Drive for More Electric Vehicles

California is aiming to have 1.5 million zero-emission vehicles on the road in 10 years—a key part of its sweeping efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions—and the state’s electric utilities have taken the pole position in the race to meet that goal, PG&E Chairman and CEO Tony Earley said today at the industry’s major convention in New Orleans.
