PG&E COMPLETES MAJOR SAFETY MILESTONE INSTALLING AUTOMATIC, REMOTE SHUT-OFF VALVES

Continuing to improve on the operation and management of its natural gas pipeline system, PG&E has completed another significant safety recommendation issued by the National Transportation Safety Board. The company has installed 235 automated valves on its gas transmission lines and has now satisfied 11 of the 12 NTSB safety recommendations since the 2010 San Bruno pipeline explosion. The remote-controlled valves can be opened or closed with the push of a button from PG&E's state-of-the-art gas control center in San Ramon.
