PG&E COMPLETES CORNERSTONE PROJECT REPLACING ALL CAST-IRON PIPE FROM ITS GAS SYSTEM

This week, PG&E announced that all known cast-iron pipe in its system was replaced by the end of 2014, ahead of a self-imposed goal. In all, the amount of pipeline replaced would stretch from San Francisco to Seattle. Nick Stavropoulos, PG&E's executive vice president of gas operations, described it as a "cornerstone" accomplishment and another example of building a best-in-class gas system.

PG&E Pilot Project Takes Smart Grid Technology to the Next Level

PG&E recently received California Public Utilities Commission permission to start the second phase of a multi-year smart grid pilot project. The project aims to reduce customer energy usage and losses along electric lines, lower customer bills, support more rooftop solar and spare the environment.

More than 20 elected officials and public safety representatives toured PG&E’s new electric distribution control center in Fresno this week. PG&E’s Gary Cassilagio told them that the facility, which opened in October, already is paying dividends.

Stockton Facility Will House New Energy Training Center and Business Operations

PG&E has purchased a 138,000-square-foot office building at 3136 Boeing Way in Stockton. The location will undergo extensive renovations throughout the year to create a more productive work environment to better serve customers and to bring it up to energy-efficiency standards that meet LEED certification goals.

Central Coast: PG&E Employees Donate $575,000 for Local Communities in 2015

PG&E Diablo Canyon Power Plant and local area employees and retirees will donate more than $575,000 to local nonprofits and schools in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties in 2015. Overall, PG&E employees have pledged more than $7 million for the 2015 Campaign for the Community.
