CURRENTS WEEK IN REVIEW: JUNE 8-12, 2015

THE NATION'S ELECTRIC UTILITIES, INCLUDING PG&E, ARE DRIVING THE EXPANSION OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE MARKET

This week, at the major annual convention of the electric utility industry, PG&E Chairman and CEO Tony Earley said that companies such as PG&E are leading the charge toward greater adoption of electric vehicles. For PG&E, this includes nearly 1,400 plug-in vehicles in its fleet, EV discounts for employees, technology pilots with companies like BMW and a proposal to install 25,000 EV chargers in Northern and Central California.

Crews Show Off Skills, Safety at First PG&E, IBEW Gas Rodeo

What rodeo doesn’t have a lasso or bucking bronco? A gas rodeo. In the place of calf roping, participants assemble a gas meter from parts in a bucket. This and other activities served as the qualifying tasks for PG&E employees hoping to represent the company at the national gas rodeo in Colorado Springs this fall.

School will be out soon for summer and that means many kids will be home with tons of energy – and using lots of energy in the home. PG&E wants parents to know that the company offers savings and safety tips year-round, but summer is a great time for families to learn ways to save energy and money. It’s also a good opportunity to teach children how to stay safe around electricity and natural gas.
