'BAREHANDING' TECHNIQUE PROTECTS LINEMEN WHILE MAINTAINING, UPGRADING AND REPAIRING ENERGIZED TRANSMISSION LINES

PG&E recently completed annual training in Merced County for a special group of linemen who perform upgrades, maintenance and repairs on energized transmission power lines that carry 60,000 to 500,000 volts of electricity. As this video shows, the procedure called "barehanding" is safer and easier for linemen, and it also eliminates the need to de-energize a power line and interrupt electric service to potentially thousands of customers.
