CURRENTS WEEK IN REVIEW: SEPT. 14-18, 2015

PG&E WORKING CLOSELY WITH CAL FIRE, OTHERS IN RESPONSE TO MAJOR WILDIRES

About 800 PG&E employees continued to assess damage and restore customers affected by wildfires in Northern and Central California. Together, the Valley, Butte and Rough fires, have burned tens of thousands of acres in about a half-dozen counties. Employees at incident command centers near the fires and at PG&E's Emergency Operations Center in San Francisco are helping to coordinate the company's response, focused primarily on ensuring the safety of the public and those battling the fires.

Solar Alliance Seeks to Revolutionize 'Going Solar' Experience

The Northern and Central SunShot Alliance — made up of PG&E, local governments and solar and technology companies — will build and interconnect rooftop solar systems in one day or less. It's for a contest by the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative awarding $10 million in cash prizes for local communities.

PG&E Opens New Customer Service Center in Hollister

PG&E celebrated the relocation of its Hollister customer service center to a new facility with more parking and better access for its customers. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was recently held with local PG&E employees and members of the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce and Hollister City Council in attendance.

PG&E Honored by Oakland Mayor, Council for Support During NBA Finals

Barry Anderson, PG&E's vice president of emergency preparedness and operations, accepted an award from Oakland officials for the utility's contribution to "light up Oakland" during this year's NBA Finals. PG&E employees packed council chambers to receive the special recognition from Oakland Mayor Libby Schaff.
