PG&E JOINS GOVERNOR, LAWMAKERS AT SIGNING OF VISIONARY CLIMATE CHANGE LEGISLATION

Geisha Williams, president of PG&E Electric, joined Gov. Jerry Brown and lawmakers in Los Angeles this week for the signing of far-reaching climate change legislation that will further position California to become the nation's clean energy leader. Senate Bill 350 increases the state's Renewables Portfolio Standard to 50 percent and doubles state energy efficiency targets. PG&E supported the legislation and the flexibility the new law provides on banking of excess renewable procurements.

Diablo Canyon Desalination Plant May Help Alleviate Local Water Concerns

PG&E's Diablo Canyon Power Plant in San Luis Obispo County has a desalination facility that removes salt from seawater to meet the plant's needs and provide drinking water for about 1,400 employees. Under a recent agreement, the plant could now begin providing desalinated water to the county for emergency use.

In support of the Obama administration's announcement in July to increase access to solar energy for low- and moderate-income communities, PG&E has committed $25,000 to GRID Alternatives North Valley to ensure solar is reaching underserved communities.

PG&E Helps Build Trail in Santa Cruz County, Honors Public Lands Day

Visitors to Cotoni-Coast Dairies in Santa Cruz County now have a new trail to enjoy thanks to volunteers who beautified a natural habitat on public coastal lands recently. PG&E employees and local volunteers donated their time to improve the scenic property managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
