GEISHA WILLIAMS ELECTED CEO AND PRESIDENT OF PG&E CORPORATION, PART OF SUCCESSION PLAN

As part of a leadership succession plan, Geisha Williams was elected chief executive officer and president of PG&E Corporation earlier this month. Williams is currently president, Electric, of PG&E, the corporation’s utility subsidiary. She will replace Tony Earley, who will vacate the position to serve as executive chair of the PG&E Corporation board of directors. Additionally, Nick Stavropoulos will serve as president and chief operating officer. Williams will be PG&E’s first female CEO and president when the changes take effect March 1.

Rio Americano High School students Matt Grossman and Max Glenn learned in a surprise announcement that they will help deliver solar suitcases to underserved communities in Kenya. The Sacramento students were two of six students selected for the trip as part of PG&E’s Solar Suitcase Program.

In a normally quiet river canyon, big booms signified the removal of East Panther Creek Dam. The creek’s hydrology will be restored to pre-dam conditions, benefiting fish, habitat and flows. The work is part of a multiyear collaboration between PG&E and various local, state and federal agencies.

PG&E Honored for Exceptional Emergency Preparedness Efforts

The California Emergency Services Association has honored PG&E with its Gold Award for “exceptional efforts in the field of emergency preparedness.” PG&E was cited for many of its emergency preparedness efforts, including its winter storms response and response and restoration after the 2014 Napa earthquake.

Home Depot, PG&E Partner in Bakersfield for Holiday Light Exchange

More than 150 people recently took advantage of a free holiday light exchange courtesy of PG&E and Home Depot. Customers lined up to turn in old, incandescent holiday lights for new, energy efficient LED lights at a northwest Bakersfield Home Depot where PG&E employee volunteers gladly handled the swaps.
