CURRENTS WEEK IN REVIEW: Dec. 21-24, 2015
AFTER 26 YEARS, PG&E EMPLOYEE READY TO HAND OFF TRADITION LIGHTING TREES FOR STOCKTON HOSPICE
For more than a quarter of a century, PG&E electric distribution supervisor Mark Rasmussen has volunteered for a good cause — coordinating the lighting of a 70-foot redwood tree in Stockton for the Hospice of San Joaquin. The work is part of the hospice's Tree of Lights fundraiser that allows the public to honor or memorialize a loved one by buying a light that goes on the tree. PG&E also assists at other Tree of Lights locations, most of them in San Joaquin County. As this Currents video shows, this is the last year the retiring Rasmussen is involved stringing the lights. He's passing on the tradition to colleague Bobby Severson, who has his own personal connection to the project.
