PG&E today (May 20) announced that it has completed the 10th of 12 safety recommendations issued by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) following the 2010 San Bruno pipeline explosion. The NTSB granted “closed-acceptable action” status given the improvements the company has made on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and commended the company’s actions for exceeding the scope of the recommendation.

PG&E spent $2.1 billion with diverse suppliers in 2014, accounting for 41 percent of its total procurement. For the third straight year, diverse suppliers accounted for $2 billion-plus of the utility’s spend and more than 40 percent of the utility’s total spend for the second year in a row.

More than 2,000 PG&E personnel fanned out across Northern and Central California over the past five days to restore power to hundreds of thousands of customers impacted by the first storms of 2015. Heavy rain and high winds pummeled a large swath of the utility’s service area. From early morning on Friday through Tuesday, the utility restored service to nearly all of the more than 460,000 customers who lost power.

PG&E delivered record electric reliability to its customers for the sixth straight year. Since 2009, the utility has consistently reduced the average duration of power outages. Additionally, customers experienced the fewest number of outages in company history in 2014.
