PG&E’s record $1.6 billion in spending last year with diverse businesses earned praise today (March 27) from a California Public Utilities Commission member. Catherine Sandoval, a CPUC commissioner, was the keynote speaker at PG&E’s Annual Supplier Diversity Achievement Awards.

PG&E Earns Award, Spent $514 Million on Women-Owned Businesses in 2011

PG&E was selected by the Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as one of the recipients of the 2011 America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises Award. PG&E achieved an all-time high of $1.61 billion in spending with diverse suppliers in 2011, accounting for 36.6 percent of its total procurement budget. PG&E’s total spend on women business enterprises also reached an all-time high of $514 million.

PG&E Adds Mobile Command Vehicles to Emergency-Response Capabilities

In December, PG&E rolled out a fleet of four 24-foot Sprinter vehicles as a mobile extension of the company’s Emergency Operations Center. The vehicles are strategically staged within PG&E’s service area – in Santa Rosa, San Jose, Stockton and San Francisco.

PG&E Continues to Support Hinkley Community During Cleanup

Over the past year, PG&E has taken many actions in support of its commitment to the Southern California town of Hinkley as the company makes strides to cleanup groundwater contamination there from chromium used at a natural gas compressor station in the 1950s and 1960s.

"PG&E" refers to Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation.
