In Bakersfield, Fresno and Sacramento, 210 teens spent their summer working as part of PG&E’s Better Together Summer Jobs Program. The interns completed the six-week program and celebrated with graduation ceremonies where they were each given a surprise gift.

PG&E has begun daily aerial fire detection patrols across hundreds of miles of its service area. The patrols are to assist the U.S. Forest Service, Cal Fire and local fire agencies with early fire detection and response this summer.

Employees at each location also held a moment of silence for three men killed in a shooting last week in Fresno, including PG&E’s Zackary Randalls.

Customer service representatives from PG&E took part in Financial Literacy Week at the office of the Consulate of Mexico in Fresno where they talked to Spanish-speaking customers about how to save money and energy. Earlier in the week, company representatives were at the Consulate of Mexico in San Jose.

In 2016, the average duration of power outages for a PG&E customer was 109 minutes. That was up slightly from 96 minutes in 2015, but still represented the second-lowest total in history and reflects a 35 percent improvement over the past decade.

Rollin Valley Farms in Riverdale has been around for generations and brothers Andy and Donny Rollin want to do whatever they can to save money and energy. The farmers have established a close relationship with PG&E’s Jason Witte who is helping their business become more energy efficient.

Since 9/11, members of the Blue Star Moms of Central California have collected dry foods, socks, books and anything else that could possibly fit into a postal box to send to young men and women serving in the military who will be away from home on the holidays.This year they found a new ally in PG&E.

PG&E has made Kill-A-Watt toolkits available for checkout at the Lake County Library. Customers can borrow the devices, for free, and use them to measure how much energy household appliances consume.
