Like a phoenix, once majestic Ponderosa pine trees, destroyed by drought and bark beetles, will soon find new life in The Temple at Burning Man. PG&E is donating the dead trees, that it has felled to protect power lines and public safety, for the annual event in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

Drought and bark beetle infestation have killed more than 100 million trees in California, and U.S. Forest Service scientists expect elevated levels of tree mortality to continue into this year in some areas. That’s why PG&E is working with local Fire Safe Councils, providing nearly $2 million in project funding to reduce the threat of wildfires.

PG&E announced the opening of the self-generation incentive program (SGIP) for 2017 through the end of 2019. During this timeframe, PG&E will administer more than $240 million in SGIP incentives to customers, offering financial incentives to help them install storage, renewables and other energy technologies.

PG&E has announced a call for proposals for renewable energy developers to build new projects for a clean energy program available to PG&E customers.
