PG&E wants to make sure customers know about the many ways they can reduce their monthly energy bill. From a Home Energy Checkup to Golden State Rebates, there are money-saving programs available right now – and many of them are free.
Check back each week to learn more about the additional resources customers can benefit from right now and in the months ahead to save money.
REACH Triple Match (Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help)
Have a past-due energy bill? REACH Triple Match provides income-eligible customers who make a payment with a bill credit to further reduce their balance. Low-to moderate-income customers are required to make a payment of $50 or more before the REACH program matches it threefold, providing up to a $1,000 credit. REACH Triple Match expands customer eligibility beyond traditional REACH. For example, a household of four with an income of $120,000 a year could qualify for assistance. You can check eligibility requirements and how to apply here. Your application must be approved before your payment will be matched.
Examples of how it works
Low-income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
This is a federally funded assistance program overseen by the state that helps PG&E customers get their energy bills back on track. It offers a one-time payment up to $1,000 on past due bills to help low-income households pay for heating or cooling in their homes. Eligibility for LIHEAP services can vary depending on factors including income, household size, and where you live. In 2023, LIHEAP provided more than $100 million in financial support to over 100,000 households in PG&E’s service area. REACH and REACH Triple Match recipients may also qualify for LIHEAP assistance.
